I'd feel really bad for you if at least one turtle didn't get stuck in every FA match.

Reading the first post i had to chuckle - i almost read it as Gunther running to siege turtles and suddenly imagined gunther trying to help the stuck turtles lol.

Its amazing how long this format has been broken and is still popular... it should speak to reason why other areas of PvP based game play are dead.

Failure to fix FA is ominous since if they cannot fix this comparatively simple scenario, how much support can we really expect for GW 2 pvp or pve?

2 things;
1 - every game typically has serious bugs, throughout it's existence. Yes, online games, too. The problem may lie in some hard coded things, and there may not be easy ways to fix it, regardless of what the player base may think.
2 - budget. Simple as that.

The Gunther-pulling trick is part of general AI but I agree that it should be addressed. Gunther and his two buddies (and all other non-Turtle, non-Luxon Warrior NPCs in FA) are supposed to be stationary except for when they're under AoE. However, at some point, the AI was altered so that enemy monsters will be more persistant in their pursuit of players below a certain health percentage (Somewhere around 70%). This is generally an easy thing for a player on the Luxon side to do if he/she can take some damage and ensure Gunther's aggro is on him/her
The main reason why people have a problem with this Gunther-pulling issue is because they cannot stand still and mash their weapon spells, heals and enchantments on Gunther's red bar for 4 minutes straight. They have to actually observe what's going on and, *gasp*, move.
While we're talking FA, could we lengthen the resurrection period a little to punish deaths? Or, maybe, add a 2% DP per kill instead of none. When the Kurzick side is playing a night of Heal Wars (5+ Rits and Monks), it's really hard (virtually impossible) to counteract sometimes.

On that note, JQ is a pissed take and I wonder why any Luxons still play it! 2/3 times the damn turtles get stuck, then its simply game over. Its a shame cause JQ and FA make for fun quick PvP.

Our top story tonight: Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.
As far as why it doesn't get fixed; no doubt budget is a factor. Low traffic is another. But an even larger issue is the fact that the arenas are fundamentally flawed because their design revolves around AI movement, which has always been horribly glitchy in Guild Wars.
The result is that no matter how many resources you throw at the problem it is overwhelmingly likely to stay broken, so the devs rarely bother to even try.

I still maintain the best "solution" is to delete this and JQ, and auto match solo player entries in AB again. People only play these two spots because the faction grind rewards are so high.

Live Team vs. ANet. One of these things is bigger than the other.

Bull. How in the world do you know what are the motives of each and every person that plays FA and JQ?

That's pretty much as if we said : dhuum isn't attacking at the end of UW, yet the area is still popular...
If you see something easy to abuse in order to get easy wins, then obviously people will play it... But, i would also say that the 2 big reasons are :
- you still usually get an average number of wins/lose considering there are bugs everywhere
- you still get a good reward ( even if lose) compared to AB, which is inactive furthermore

Well they are both fun to play every now & then but mostly it's for the incredibly easy faction, it's become more profitable to farm pvp than pve (I find this funny) seeing as how syncing etc. is definitely not bannable since ANet don't give a shit.

FA and JQ are the only PvP I actually play in GW, so I kinda object to the idea that they're worthless. They're the only PvP with some sort of storyline, that's why I like them.
Amazingly, I don't remember ever having seen a turtle get stuck. I must play it very little indeed, I guess...

Because of how utterly empty the places were before the faction shot through the roof.
Having a place you can quick-join without a party is also part of the appeal, that's why I said to revert that aspect of AB. AB is still super casual but superior in every other way than this limitation.

TBH I see Gunther chasing as "payback" for Kurzicks gate holding and breaking turtles.

Enjoying this bug a lot on the Luxon side. Today, even in the presence of 4 Kurzick healers, they lost because none of their healers realized that Gunther ran out silently...LMAO!
